Welcome to the Old School House wedding venue, a Grade II listed former school, built in 1801, located between Bilton-in-Ainsty and Tockwith on the edge of Wetherby, near to York, Leeds and Harrogate.
The Old School House built in 1801 is perfect for small intimate and personal wedding receptions.
You and your guests will be greeted on arrival after your ceremony for welcome drinks and canapes in the entrance hall and bar area with live background music from our resident pianist playing our baby grand piano. In warmer weather your guests can spill out onto the driveway and garden in front of the house and enjoy the views of the Yorkshire countryside.
You can make the most of the stunning garden and grounds for fabulous photos with The Old School House and the surrounding Yorkshire countryside as the perfect back drop. Guests will be called to dinner to the sound of an original hand rung school bell and can find their seat from the table plan on the school blackboard. You will then enter the Old School Room for an intimate dinner of your choice with the high beamed ceiling and large picture windows letting in the afternoon sun.
The school room is then the perfect size for an intimate evening of mingling, music and dancing.
Use our original traditional wooden school desks for your guests to sign your guest book as a memory of your day and our original cloakroom pegs for hanging their coats...... a step back in time for the authentic old school feel.
We don't have a license to perform legal ceremonies, however if you would like to hold a small personal or humanist ceremony then again the school room is the perfect size for this.
For summer weddings we also have a stunningly restored VW T2 camper van that has been transformed into an eye catching fully equipped bar to serve your welcome drinks from - be it Prosecco, Pimms, Gin or a full draught bar, the choice is yours .... Guests can enjoy their drinks in the garden and take a seat on our original restored school benches.
